Contributing to the personal growth of others is the heartbeat and the sweet spot that I look for in my relationships. That is where I find meaning, significance and energy. I believe that being compassionately present with others has real value in itself. I have a deep belief in our capacity to find real life resolutions when we have access to understanding, support and respect. Complementing that, I love helping by applying knowledge in a personal and meaningful ways that helps us face and grow through life’s hurts and challenges.
It has brought meaning to my life to work with people in the way that I do; I am honoured to walk with others through both their pain and their triumphs. I have both a B.A. in Psychology (Honours) and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University (TWU) and am a registered clinical counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I am also an active member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) and remain involved in various research projects and continuing education in order to stay current and offer a variety of treatment options to best meet the needs of my clients.
It seems to me that few spaces are more significant and sacred than journeying with those who allow me to share in the processing of their challenges and pain but also to join them in celebrating their dreams and successes. As such, I consider it a privilege to walk alongside others as we together seek ways to embrace hope, nurture growth, pursue restoration, and celebrate progress.
Counselling can be an active process of setting goals and working together to meet them. It can also be a process of being supported and witnessed in navigating life challenges. I believe in both these attitudes and employ them to support my clients. To do this, I primarily employ person-centered and experiential counselling techniques.
Painful life experiences may cause us to lose connection with ourselves and with those we are in relationship with, but change is possible. Nothing gives me greater joy than journeying with others toward becoming unstuck and experiencing growth, freedom, healing and self-acceptance.
I consider it a privilege and a gift to walk alongside individuals on their journeys to health and healing. I find myself continually energized by the strength and courage of those desiring to embark on the path of personal growth. Walking alongside individuals on this journey brings deep significance to my own life and is an opportunity I do not take for granted. I am truly honored to join clients as they process pain, celebrate progress and move towards increasing a sense of self-confidence and joy in daily living.
